I have installed ubuntu on my home laptop, all seems to be working perfectly after the false start that highlighted my stupidity... I couldn't get the wireless to work, and all sources said that my wireless card should just work... so naturally i was confused as to why it didn't, i had applied updates to the system (using ethernet) and thought that maybe that was the problem... so i reinstalled, and it still didn't work.
At this point i was willing to give up, but then i thought, hey which way was this switch supposed to be... and whala turn on the wireless and strangely enough it works perfectly... Even detected all the wireless networks here and allowed me to select everything wep and all.
